A less experimental & more grounded effort when compared to his earlier works, Tokyo Godfathers is a funny, poignant & melancholic story that unfolds without playing with the viewers' sense of reality but still packs enough twists n turns to keep them guessing.
Taking place on Christmas Eve, the story of Tokyo Godfathers follows 3 homeless friends, a middle-aged alcoholic, a former drag queen & a runaway girl who while foraging through the garbage encounter an abandoned newborn and later set out to unite the baby with his parents.
Co-written & directed by Satoshi Kon, his third feature film is a departure from his reality & imagination blending projects such as Perfect Blue & Millennium Actress but it still carries a sense of mystery that requires the full attention of its viewers, for the plot takes many unexpected turns before reaching its final outcome.
The illustrations of the hand-drawn animation are slightly different as well but it's rich & finely detailed. Humour is sprinkled throughout the narrative but there is a somber tone to it as well. The mystery surrounding the baby's parents takes them on a series of adventures, and the ending provides a proper closure to the arcs of each one of them.
Covering the themes of loss, family, abandonment, homelessness & forgiveness in a warm, accessible fashion and staying true to the Christmas spirit with a miracle that redeems all, Tokyo Godfathers unfolds at a much calmer pace than expected but the reward for sitting through it is a satisfying one. The film shows a different side of Satoshi Kon's creativity but it's another fine addition to his oeuvre.

As might be expected, he's a very different film maker now. I found A HIDDEN LIFE something of a puzzle. It is undoubtedly beautiful to watch, even as its subject matter gets progressively grimmer. Its religiosity was something of a challenge to me, as was its stilted dialogue. Its story is the familiar one of a man suffering for what he believes. It is the story of John Procter, the hero of Arthur Miller's play THE CRUCIBLE; it is the story of Ibsen's Dr Stockmann, in the play ENEMY OF THE PEOPLE. And of course it's the story of Jesus Christ. There is a tragic grandeur to all of these, and, whatever my reservations about it, there is tragic grandeur to A HIDDEN LIFE. My husband found it unbearably pretentious. I can see why. But I admire the way that this film isn't like anyone else's, that Malick has, in the course of the last half-century, found a way of working that delivers something unique. It certainly won't be to everyone's taste, and aspects of it test one's patience. All the same, I was glad to have seen it, not least for the cinematography and the performances, and the retelling of a story that we all still need to hear in these troubled times.

A cinematographic tour de force! This is an almost flawless movie and a true metaphysical drama. Probably the best movie of the Toronto international film festival. Base on a true story the photography is breath taking. You have to see it. 'a jew' gesundheit' WHEEZE. A hidden life terrence malick. A hidden life (2019) trailer. A hidden life cast. A hidden life music. A hidden life trailer reaction. Malick is the most inscructable, frustrating and, when the pieces come together, genius filmmaker of our time. The Thin Red Line was phenomenal. The Tree of Life was severely lacking in narrative, but it has unforgettable images and quotes. He's one of the very few filmmakers who makes a sincere attempt to tackle that most difficult of subjects, the transcendent, as it manifests in this life. This is a fairly foreign concept not just in film but in Western civilization. No waiting until a disembodied Heaven or the Rapture etc. for him.

Image copyright Lionsgate When Gareth Malone created his Military Wives choir, the effects were to prove far more enduring and profound than the resulting flurry of fame. The ensemble was formed in 2011 as part of BBC Two's The Choir series, led by Malone. The documentary followed their transformation from an anonymous group of military wives into harmonious chart-toppers performing for the Queen. As well as showing the therapeutic value of communal singing, Malone's efforts gave an insight into the life of the military wife - not least, the months of loneliness and the need to keep "a stiff upper lip", despite being wracked with worry when their partners were away. These are women who are hardly seen, let alone heard, but Malone gave them a public face - and voice. Malone's choir of wives from the Chivenor military base in Devon - joined later by those at Plymouth - was not, in fact, the first. That credit goes to the women of Catterick Garrison in North Yorkshire, who were established under their own steam. They sparked an idea in Malone which grew into the TV documentary. And now the story is hitting the big screen in a new film starring Catastrophe's Sharon Horgan and film and theatre star Dame Kristen Scott Thomas. Though not heavily involved in the production, directed by The Fully Monty's Peter Cattaneo, Malone did act as story consultant. The film is loosely inspired by the Catterick story with elements of Malone's original choir thrown in. "As I started meeting real military wives, rich themes soon showed themselves: a fragmented group of people finding unity and camaraderie through song: women who are expected to 'keep quiet and carry on' finding their voices, " he adds. Horgan plays Lisa, the ballsy, somewhat jaded, mother of a rebellious teenage daughter. Practising hopefully makes perfect When the Catastrophe actress first read the script, she cried. "It moved me but it also makes you feel good, " she says of the movie that features 80s pop tracks from the likes of Tears For Fears, Cyndi Lauper, Yazoo and Human League. "It's great to watch these women come together and see a good thing happen despite the really difficult situation they're in, " Horgan says. "And a film that has a female cast that isn't about love or broken hearts but something bigger felt very of the now. Women coming together to help each other is kind of what we have to do at the moment because if we're not careful, no-one else will. " There's also a social message about the value of community that can be extrapolated from the women's group activity, says Horgan. "Everyone's becoming introverted in the way they are living. Life's very hard and we all have a lot to deal with but if you look a little further beyond, it can become a really positive thing. " Kate (Kristen Scott Thomas) and Lisa (Sharon Horgan) have to learn to work in harmony Horgan's character Lisa and Scott Thomas's Kate have very different approaches to what constitutes morale-boosting activities for the women. Lisa is the "let's get smashed and eat junk food" type - "not far off what I normally play", says Horgan. Colonel's wife Kate's thoughts turn more to organised and challenging pursuits. And though she herself seems so controlled, in private Kate has acquired a compulsive shopping channel habit, as a means of tranquilising the grief over her dead son. When a choir is finally suggested, they slowly develop an uneasy partnership as the idea grows, with a glorious outcome none of the women predicted. Jason Flemyng is one of a just a handful of men in the movie During the course of filming, fiction met reality for the cast and crew. They created many of the scenes at real garrisons, including Catterick, and spent time with the wives - some of whom were used as background characters. "It was incredibly eye-opening, " says Horgan. "We were hanging out in their houses, with these mothers and wives and seeing this completely different perspective. "But they weren't moaning about it. They were optimistic, just 'get it done' kind of people. " As for the singing, she says the actors adopted the same "organic" approach as the real military wives. "The director didn't want it to sound slick - although, there was no fear of that - but for it to come together over time. There was no practising or stress, just, 'Let's see what happens'. " Kate (Kristen Scott Thomas) has to keep a calm exterior as the wife of a colonel, played by Greg Wise Critics gave their verdict following the movie's premiere at the Toronto Film Festival. "Think Calendar Girls with less nudity and more harmonising… Military Wives is a film that's hard to entirely resist, like a song that you'll hum along to even if you forget the tune straight after, " said The Guardian. Indiewire added it made "the base feel like a purgatory without things getting too unpleasant". "What joy there is to be found in Military Wives comes less from self-discovery than friendship, as these women learn how much stronger they are together. " But behind this piece of celluloid are real women. They, more than anyone, are entitled to a point of view. For Sharon (surname withheld) from Chivenor, who was in Malone's choir, the movie churned up challenging feelings. "It took me back there and that knot in your stomach, watching your husband go away, even when there isn't conflict, it's tough. You just have to function, get on and deal with it, " she says. Excitement over an invitation to perform for the Queen But she also remembers how the choir "brought me friendship and a bond with people like me". "When they came to film they said 'just enjoy the ride, don't ask too many questions'. But I still find what went on to happen rather surreal. We had the responsibility of representing all military wives. But joining the choir has been the best thing I ever did. " Jo from the Catterick military wives choir, known as the Wags (Wives, Affiliates, Girlfriends and Servicewomen), is "very, very proud" of the group's legacy. "It's such a simple idea and yet it gives so much support in the week - to just drop everything and come and sing, " she says. "Sometimes people slip through the net and sort of fall if there's nobody there for them. "But when we find a new lady, we say, 'just come along and enjoy yourself'. They may think they can't but then find the opposite. " As for Horgan, she concludes that, having being given a window into the women's lives, has "made me appreciate what I have". "It makes you think: there are people out there who are not given a moment's thought or consideration, who really have it tough. I genuinely left feeling grateful for my life. Director Peter Cattaneo seems to have been on a prolonged career hiatus ever since his last three features ( Lucky Break, Opal Dream and The Rocker) failed to even vaguely approximate the astonishing return on investment that distinguished his 1997 breakout sleeper hit The Full Monty. However, Cattaneo's latest, the eminently entertaining Military Wives, has every chance — just like in any Hollywood rise-fall-rise-again movie — of resurrecting the British director's stock again. At the very least, it forms a pleasing companion piece to Full Monty by again deploying an eclectic, likeably normal-looking ensemble (nearly all women this time instead of men) to tell a story about a relatively unsung group of amateurs (this time the spouses of armed forces personnel instead of Full Monty 's unemployed steel workers) who build self-esteem through performance (choral singing instead of stripping). Sure, it shamelessly panders to our collective sense of duty to support the troops — and, of course, also support the families that support the troops — and maybe it's more than a little manipulative and formulaic. But gosh darn it, it's hard not to warm to a film that features an a cappella version of Yazoo's "Only You, " a near-derelict car that may or may not be called Shite Rider and Kristin Scott Thomas having a verbal catfight in a parking lot. By some distance the biggest name in the cast, Scott Thomas seems to be enjoying herself here as a poshly accented, cashmere-clad queen bee who is married to the ranking officer (Greg Wise) at a fictional army base (as opposed to all those roles where she played a poshly accented, cashmere-clad lady with other sorts of spouses living in other locales). Given the way that the social hierarchy on the base mirrors that of the soldiers themselves, Scott Thomas' Kate is supposed to be a little apart from everyone else but still in a kind of service to the base, making sure everything is ticking over as it should, part chatelaine, part PTA president. According to these unwritten rules, it's the job of the partner of whoever is the troop's current staff sergeant to organize regular communal activities to keep morale up when the spouses are on deployment. Therefore, when most of the base's soldiers are sent to Afghanistan for a tour, this role falls on the shoulders of down-to-earth Irishwoman Lisa (Sharon Horgan), who runs the on-base convenience store and is currently struggling to bring up her and husband's smart but mouthy teenage daughter Frankie (India Ria Amarteifio, making an impression). However, having not long ago done the job herself, and without much to do these days apart from keep the house spotless and try not to dwell on her grief over the death of her son, a soldier killed in combat, Kate can't resist meddling in Lisa's efforts to organize new activities for this tour of duty. During one of the coffee mornings hosted by Lisa, Kate press-gangs Lisa into writing down the suggestions on a whiteboard of other things the wives can do. When recently arrived newlywed Sarah (Amy James-Kelly) suggests forming a choir, natural showoff Kate is thrilled but knows she won't get the other women to take part unless Lisa, a much better-liked person among the spouse crowd, is nominally the leader. Lisa is hesitant at first, but given that her own mother taught music and hints are dropped that she may have been in a band herself at one point, she gets into the idea as long as they sing pop songs and not the classical pieces and hymns Kate is keen on. Structurally, the script credited to Rachel Tunnard and Rosanne Flynne efficiently deploys every trope in the arsenal of zero-to-hero storytelling, including the revelation that one of the gang, Jess (Gaby French), has an impressive natural talent. ("Of course, it would be the Welsh one, " snarks one woman, a knowing nod to the stereotypical image of Welsh people as tremendous vocalists. ) As if guided by an algorithm, the script maneuvers Kate and Lisa into a growing friendship cemented on a confidence about the death of Kate's son, all the better to engineer a dramatic rift between them that can be healed in the final minutes. Indeed, the narrative keeps placing patently artificial roadblocks in the way of the women's ultimate goal of performing at London's Royal Albert Hall for a charity Remembrance Day concert, just so that the final triumphant achievement of their goal will feel all the sweeter before the obligatory montage of the real-world counterparts who inspired the story. Equally predictable, but more justified given the context, is the inevitable moment they've all been dreading when one of the women receives the horrible news that her husband has been killed in combat. As it happens, it's a sequence handled with considerable sensitivity, generating suspense over who the widow will be in a way that underscores the random cruelty of war. The reaction of the bereaved wife (it seems unfair to the actor not to say who it is, but it would spoil the moment) is beautifully performed, a study in shock long prepared for. Her performance develops even more nuance when Scott Thomas' Kate comes over to comfort her, prompting a gloriously layered display of conflicting emotions from Kate, including empathy, hesitancy to show that empathy in case it triggers her own grief, practicality and warmth — all buttressed with smartly written dialogue that rings true to how women like this might sound. It's those little flickers of authenticity throughout that really kick the movie up a notch, discoverable in subtle moments like when rivals Kate and Lisa trade polite passive-aggressive barbs, always punctuated with grimacing smiles of insincerity. Horgan proves to be a more the capable sparring partner to Scott Thomas, but in fact the ensemble is packed with sparky little turns from the supporting players, such as seasoned character actor Laura Checkley, funny as all get out as soccer-mad Cockney Maz; Emma Lowndes (from Downton Abbey) as an unsentimental straight shooter; and scene-stealing Lara Rossi as a lesbian hairdresser who seems to be almost clinically tone deaf. While this story is mixes a lot of ups and downs, you can still feel dread at times. This all though builds up to an extend that rewards you and the director is able to get that feeling of relief, camaraderie and courage transported to YOU in the audience, no matter if you are black or white.
The end credits will give you goosebumps, with the expected real life footage that reminds you again, that most of what you've seen in the last 2 hours, really happened to people. This is exactly the thought you should leave the cinema with. Sometimes, it only takes one kind person to have a huge impact.

I saw it last year on the Festival do Rio, I was very impacted by it. All the performances are incredible, espécially Michael B Jordan, Jamie Foxx and Blake T Nelson. Tの元で地球で活動していた [11] 。ヴェヌ―シアン（金星流）合気道を心得ており、しばしば戦闘するシーンが見られる [10] 。黄色のロードスターやフーモバイルという乗り物を運転することがある。3代目ドクターのコンパニオンとして サラ・ジェーン・スミス （ 英語版 ） （演： エリザベス・スレイデン （ 英語版 ） ）や、 ジョー・グラント （ 英語版 ） （演： ケイティ・マニング （ 英語版 ） ）などがいる。" Planet Of Spiders " で大量の放射線を浴び、4代目ドクターに再生した [12] 。 シーズン10" The Three Doctors "で初代及び2代目ドクターと共演したが、これはドクターが他の時代のドクター自身とコンタクトをとる初めてのエピソードであった。シーズン20" The Five Doctors "にも登場した。 4代目ドクター 演 - トム・ベイカー / 日本語版 - 玄田哲章 初登場：シーズン11" Planet Of Spiders " コンパニオン：レスブリッジ・スチュワート准将、ジョン・ベントン軍曹、マイク・イェイツ大尉、サラ・ジェーン・スミス、ハリー・サリバン、リーラ、K‐9、ロマーナ、アドリック、ニッサ、ティーガン カーリーヘアーで帽子を被り、マルーンか薄茶のジャケットにカラフルな長いマフラーを着用している [13] 。 4代目ドクターは3代目ドクターから引き続きサラ・ジェーン・スミスと旅をするが、ギャリフレイでの裁判にかけられた際に地球人は連れて来てはならないと言われ、別れを告げる [14] 。その後、サラ・ジェーンは10代目ドクターと再開する [15] [16] 。4代目ドクターはその後、タイムロード人であるロマナと旅をすることはあったが、サラなどを含めた20世紀の地球人には連絡をせず、会おうともしなかった [17] 。この時のドクターはフレンドリーで、よくジェリーベイビー [注 2] を食べ、時には人に勧めている。コミックでのスタートレックとのクロスオーバー「Assimilation²」では、ジェリーベイビーを ミスター・スポック に勧めていた [14] 。また、ヨーヨーなどもポケットに入っておりしばしば使用している [19] [14] 。4代目ドクターは「Logopolis」で、タイムロードの再生方法の一つ [20] である「ウォッチャー」を利用して再生した。 シーズン20" The Five Doctors "ではベイカーが出演を拒否したため、4代目ドクターの登場はクリップ映像となった。50周年記念特別番組" The Day of the Doctor "では4代目の役を務めるトム・ベイカーがナショナルギャラリーの学芸員としてカメオ出演を果たした。このとき、鼻に指を当てる4代目ドクターの仕草を見せた。 10代目ドクターが登場するまでは4代目ドクターが歴代ドクターの中で最も高い人気を博していた。 5代目ドクター 演 - ピーター・デイヴィソン （ 英語版 ） 初登場：シーズン18" Logopolis " コンパニオン：アドリック、ニッサ、ティーガン、ターロー、カメリオン、ペリ ピーター・ディヴィソンはそれまでのドクター役俳優の中で最も若い起用であった。クリーム色の クリケット 用ジャケットと セロリ を着用し、スニーカーを履いている。セロリはドクターがアレルギーとしているガスに反応すると紫色になる。 5代目ドクターはニッサとティーガンとともに旅をする。何かよくものを見るときに眼鏡をかけ、たまに金切り声を出すことがあり、クリケットやお茶を飲むのを好む [21] 。また、ドクター曰く、「この時の自分は臆病だった」と述べている [22] 。このドクターは旧シリーズのドクターで初めて新シリーズに登場したドクターであり、" Time Crash " で10代目ドクターと共演している。" The Caves of Androzani " で6代目ドクターに再生した。この時、ドクターは再生が出来るとは思っていなかった。 シーズン20" The Five Doctors "にて先代のドクターと共演したほか、ミニエピソード" Time Crash "で10代目ドクターと共演した。 6代目ドクター 演 - コリン・ベイカー （ 英語版 ） 初登場：シーズン21" The Caves of Androzani " コンパニオン：ペリ、メル カーリーヘアーで、猫のバッジが付いたカラフルなジャケットを身に着けている。ズボンは黄色で、黒の縦じま模様である [23] 。 ドクターは引き続きペリと旅をする。6代目ドクターは詩を読むことが好きで [24] 、他のドクターと比べ態度が大きく短気、暴力的であった。また、この時初めて ターディス の壊れていたカメレオン回路を修理した。ただし、結局元の状態に戻している。この時番組の視聴率は低迷し始めており、ベイカーはBBCの判断で降板させられた [25] 。「Time and the Rani」で7代目ドクターに再生した。 シーズン22" The Two Doctors "にて2代目ドクターと共演し、彼を救出している。 7代目ドクター 演 - シルベスター・マッコイ （ 英語版 ） 初登場：シーズン24" Time and the Rani " コンパニオン：メル、エース 赤いネクタイにクエスチョンマークの付いたセーター、そしてクリームか茶色のジャケットを着ている。またクエスチョンマークの傘を度々持ち歩いている。 ドクターは引き続きメルと旅をする。7代目ドクターは思慮深く、ミステリアスな性格である。マッコイは 1987年 から 1989年 までドクターを演じたが、1996年の『 ドクター・フー：ザ・ムービー （ 英語版 ） 』" Doctor Who: The movie " で再登場。この映画で ターディス を出たところをギャングに撃たれ、7代目から8代目ドクターに再生した。この時、今までのドクターと違い「モルフ」という方式の再生をしている [26] 。 テレビ映画版のドクター [ 編集] 8代目ドクター 演 - ポール・マッギャン 初登場：『 ドクター・フー：ザ・ムービー （ 英語版 ） 』" Doctor Who: The movie " コンパニオン：グレース・ホロウェイ フロックコート にグレーのクラバット、グレーのズボンを身に着けている。靴はテレビドラマ版では黒の革靴を履いていたが、" Night Of The Doctor " では、白のブーツを履いていた。情熱的でロマンチストだが、一部影もある。 ギャングに撃たれた後病院に緊急搬送され医師が蘇生する際に電気ショックを利用したため、再生にミスが生じ記憶喪失となる。ドクターはマスターの灰を預かっていたが、マスターの魂は逃走。ブルースという緊急救命士の体を乗っ取り、今度はドクターの体を乗っ取ろうとするがドクターは医師のグレースと共に阻止する。そしてドクターは再び1人で旅に出た。 以降、8代目ドクターはテレビドラマで姿を見せる事はなく、ラジオドラマや小説で登場していた。しかし、2013年に50周年ミニエピソードの " Night Of The Doctor " に再登場した。20年以上新シリーズのドクターに再生するシーンはみられなかったが、このエピソードで8代目ドクターからウォードクター（ 英: War Doctor ）に再生した。タイムウォー（詳細は ダーレク を参照）で自らが戦う必要があると感じ、ドクターは戦士へ生まれ変わった。 新シリーズのドクター [ 編集] ウォードクター 演 - ジョン・ハート / 日本語版 - 祐仙勇 初登場：シーズン7" The Name Of The Doctor " [注 3] 白髪で、ひげを生やしている。この時のドクターは9代目ドクターの際にも着ている黒のジャケットに、8代目ドクターの際に着ていたものや、履いていたブーツ等をそのまま履いており、服装に大きな変化がなかった。 8代目ドクターがタイムウォーを阻止する為になった戦士の姿。タイムウォーの終盤において戦争を終結させ宇宙を守るためモメントを利用し、タイムロードと ダーレク をギャリフレイごと破壊し焼き尽くした。ドクターはこの事を後悔していた。ただし、この事は50周年記念 " The Day Of The Doctor " で10代目ドクターと11代目ドクターとともに協力して過去を書き換え、ギャリフレイを破壊せずに12代目までの歴代ドクター全員で封印した。この事はタイムロード人の体質上、記憶から消え去られている [注 4] 。ウォードクターはこの後に戦士である必要性がないと考え [27] 、9代目ドクターに再生した。 9代目ドクター 演 - クリストファー・エクルストン / 日本語版 - 山路和弘 、祐仙勇（「ドクターの日」 [28] ） 初登場：シーズン1『 マネキンウォーズ 』 コンパニオン： ローズ・タイラー 、 キャプテン・ジャック・ハークネス 黒髪で髪型は坊主頭に近い。よく耳の形を揶揄されるが、本人も耳の形を気に入っていない。黒か赤か緑のシャツを着ており、黒のズボンとジャケットを身に着けている。口癖は "Fantastic! "（意味：素晴らしい！）である。また北部訛りがあり、ローズにそれを追求された際には「どこの星にも北はある」と答えていた [注 5] 。 9代目ドクターはローズ・タイラーに出会うまでは1人で旅をしていたが、彼女に命を救われてからは共に旅をする。普段は飄々とした明るい性格である一方、タイムウォーで数多くの者を失った経験から時折陰のある一面を覗かせることがあり、特に根源となったダーレクに対しては激しい怒りと憎しみを見せる。タイムウォーで故郷を失ったネスティーン意識体や肉体を失ったゲルスには深く同情する描写がなされた。途中からキャプテン・ジャック・ハークネスを仲間に加え旅をしていたが、ダーレクに囲まれたドクターを助けるためにローズがタイムヴォルテックスを吸い込み、ドクターは彼女を助けるために身代わりとなって10代目ドクターに再生した。この時、ジャックは2001世紀の宇宙ステーションに置き去りとなる。 10代目ドクター 演 - デイヴィッド・テナント / 日本語版 - 関俊彦 初登場：シーズン1『わかれ道』 コンパニオン： ローズ・タイラー 、 ミッキー・スミス 、 マーサ・ジョーンズ 、 キャプテン・ジャック・ハークネス 、 ドナ・ノーブル 10代目ドクター(右) 10代目ドクターの人気は非常に高く、これまでに デジタル・スパイ （ 英語版 ） の「最も人気なドクター」 [29] や「21世紀最高のTVドラマのキャラクター」に選ばれている [30] 。茶髪で背が高く、茶色か青のスーツに、ネクタイをしており、時々茶色のロングコートを着ている。本人曰く、赤毛になりたかった [注 6] 。また、マルーン、ホワイト、黒のコンバースを履いている。何かものをよく見る時はメガネをかけるが、これは周りに賢そうに見せるかっこつけであり、5代目ドクターの癖から来ている事が " Time Crash " で明かされている。 再生直後再生のミスがあり昏睡状態に陥るが、 紅茶 によってシナプスが刺激され目覚める。ドクターは引き続きローズと旅をするが、" Doomsday " でドクターはローズと別れる事になる。その後、マーサ、ドナと旅をし、シーズン4でローズと再開するが、 メタクライシスドクター とパラレルワールドで暮らす様に言い渡す。また、タイムロードの知識を吸収したドナは、地球人には知識の量の負担が大きい為、ドクターによってドクターとの記憶を消されてしまう。この2つから、10代目ドクターはコンパニオンを2度と持たない事を決心する [注 7] が、コミックではその後ギャビー・ゴンザレスと旅をしている [注 8] 。口癖は「何だ!? 」（ 英: "What!? " ）、「うーん」（ 英: "Well" ）、「さぁ行こう！」（ 仏: "Allons-y! " ）、「素晴らしい」（ 伊: Molto Bene! ）。また、ガジェットを作成する事が好きで、シーズン3「Blink」ではタイミーワイミーデテクター（時空間の変動を検知する機械）、50周年スペシャル『ドクターの日』ではディング（ザイゴンの DNA を検知する機械）などが登場している。「Ding! 」となるのが好きで、上記のいずれもそう鳴っている [注 9] 。10代目ドクターは2度再生しており、1度目は " Stolen Earth " でダーレクに攻撃された時で、クリスマススペシャル「クリスマスの侵略者」でシコラックスによって斬り落とされた右手を利用し、顔や性格は変わらないまま再生した。それにより、もう一人のドクター（メタクライシスドクター）が誕生する。2度目は " End Of The Time part 2 " にてマスター、タイムロード人との戦いの後、ウィルフレッドを救うため、致死量の放射線を浴びて11代目ドクターに再生する。 10代目ドクターはその後、50周年特番『ドクターの日』に再登場した。 ミニエピソード" Time Crash "では5代目ドクターと共演している。ドクター・フーのスピンオフ『The Sarah Jane Adventures』にも登場し、ドクター・フー系列作品ではこれが現役ドクター役としての最後の出番であった。 イギリスのサイトDigitalSpyが行なったアンケート「21世紀最高のテレビキャラクター」では、第1位に選ばれている。歴代ドクターの中で最も人気が高いとされている。 もう1人のドクター(メタクライシスドクター) 演 - デイヴィッド・テナント 初登場：シーズン4『旅の終わり』 上記『盗まれた地球』で再生エネルギーを注がれ、『旅の終わり』で手から誕生したドクターの分身。ドクターの再生エネルギーとドナの要素を与えられたため完全なタイムロードではなく、半分は人間である。心臓も1つしか持たず再生能力はなく、老化もする。 ダーレク艦隊との戦闘の最中で誕生したため、ドクターとは違い強気で攻撃的であり、ローズと出会う以前の9代目ドクターと共通項がある。彼に変化をもたらすため、10代目ドクターは彼をパラレルワールドで暮らすローズに預けた。 デイヴィッド・テナントが演じたが、 ボディダブル も使用されている。 11代目ドクター 演 - マット・スミス / 日本語版 - 川島得愛 コンパニオン： エイミー・ポンド 、 ローリー・ウィリアムズ 、 リヴァー・ソング 、 クララ・オズワルド 初登場：2009年 [注 10] スペシャル『時の終わり』part2 歴代ドクターとしてはマット・スミスは最も若い登板であった [31] 。 ツイード 、もしくは フロックコート に 蝶ネクタイ 、そして サスペンダー を身に着け、黒のブーツを履いている。 口癖は "Geronimo! "、そして "～ are cool"（～はかっこいい：主に蝶ネクタイはかっこいいと言う [注 11] ）。10代目ドクターから再生した際に、ターディス内を破壊してしまったため、アメリア・ポンドの家の庭に不時着。その後、 ターディス がオーバーロードしまた飛び立つが、アメリアと再会したのは12年後であった。またプリズナーゼロとの一件の後（詳細は エイミー・ポンド を参照）、2年後にエイミー・ポンドと旅をする。ドクターはエイミー（アメリア）とローリーとの別れの後、 クララ・オズワルド をコンパニオンに迎える。クララはドクターの前で未来と過去で死亡しており、ドクターから「あり得ない女の子」（Impossible Girl）と呼ばれる。11代目ドクターは『ドクターの日』にて10代目ドクター、ウォードクターと共にギャリフレイを封印。その後トレンザロアを約900年守った後、タイムロードから再生エネルギーを受け取り再生する [注 12] 。 ドクター・フーのスピンオフ『The Sarah Jane Adventures』にも登場する。このとき、3代目ドクターのコンパニオンであったジョー・グラントと再会している。 12代目ドクター 演 - ピーター・カパルディ / 日本語版 - 内田直哉 初登場：シーズン7『ドクターの日』 [注 13] コンパニオン： クララ・オズワルド 、 ビル・ポッツ 、ナードール 白髪で黒かマルーンのコートを着ている。また、中はシャツとカーディガンか、 Tシャツ と パーカー を着ている。 ピーター・カパルディ は、この服装は デヴィッド・ボウイ からインスピレーションを受けたと語っている [32] 。ドクター曰く、12代目ドクターの外見は自ら選んだものであり、シーズン8の " Deep Breath " では自分がどうしてこの顔を選んだのか、ということについて言及している。 12代目ドクターは再生にミスがあり、 ターディス の操作方法を忘れてしまう。結果、雌のティラノサウルスにターディスごと飲み込まれたままヴィクトリア朝のロンドンへ不時着した。引き続き クララ・オズワルド と旅をする。新シリーズのドクター（9・10・11代目ドクター）は口癖があったが12代目ドクターにはこれといった口癖がない。ただし、"Shut up! Bac Si Vo dance. Doctor Who encourages your imagination with superb stories & great acting. It got a reputation as having bad special effects but we ignored that because the scripts were so good. After the hiatus, Russell (RTD) was great as Exec Producer bringing it into the C21st with better production & great scripts. Steven Moffat's one-off episodes during this time were excellent, so much so no-one complained when he took over from RTD as Exec Producer with a new Doctor. This is when the show declined. Moffat created nonsensical storylines & muddled scripts explained away by rebooting Time or just ignoring the flaws. But the main foul-up caused by Moffat and the BBC's PC insistence, was reducing the great Doctor to a sideshow to his companions who treated him as an annoying parent, the stories turning into preachy lessons & riding roughshod over established history. Moffat's latter writing of Capaldi's Doctor made him a parody of himself, much the same way John Nathan Turner ended up doing to McCoy in his last series as Exec Producer. With a new look show starting in 2018, will the Rot continue or will it regenerate back to greatness...
